<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The article examines the factors influencing the incidence and development of a severe course of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in HIV-infected patients. The study included all co-infected patients (n=68) who received inpatient care for COVID-19 in various medical institutions of the Novgorod region in the period from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2021. The results of the study showed that COVID-19 infection was more often registered in HIV-infected patients with a long history of HIV infection (5 years or more) and not taking antiretroviral drugs. COVID-19 in HIV-infected patients was more often in the moderate form of the disease (77.9%). Factors aggravating the severity of COVID-19 in HIV-infected patients are signs of progression of HIV infection (the level of CD4lymphocytes is less than 200 cells/µl; the viral load is more than 100,000 cop/ml) and the absence of antiretroviral therapy. Comorbid pathology (the presence of opportunistic infections and concomitant diseases) is a trigger factor in the development of severe forms of COVID-19 and adverse outcomes.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>новая коронавирусная инфекция</kwd><kwd>ВИЧ-инфекция</kwd><kwd>тяжелое течение</kwd><kwd>СД4-лимфоциты</kwd><kwd>вирусная нагрузка</kwd><kwd>АРВТ</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>new coronavirus infection</kwd><kwd>HIV infection</kwd><kwd>severe course</kwd><kwd>СD4-lymphocytes</kwd><kwd>viral load</kwd><kwd>antiretroviral therapy</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Karmen-Tuohy S., Carlucci P.M., Zervou F.N. et al.
